Oil Painting
Started out painting abstracts in acrylic and spent some time working with enamel on Plexiglas, but once I started my first portrait, oil paint just made sense—it became essential.
Since November 2024, I’ve been totally hooked on painting—I finished 12 pieces in just 5 months! Right now, I’m working on a series of eight paintings inspired by photos I’ve taken while wandering on the many paths of San Francisco.
In between I throw in studies in lighting and paint application. Still a lot to learn!

I added the protestors after I started the painting. The original painting concept was from a memory. I was at a coffee shop and there was a homeless man out front not seeming to bother anyone. I saw the manager go outside and move him along. He did have a full cup of coffee while the man depicted in this scene was sleeping soundly with an empty coffee cup.
El Gancho
While we waited for our pizza, my brother and I sat on the steps of our apartment building. I must have been around twelve. A woman I didn’t recognize walked by with two men from the complex, all three of them swaying, clearly drunk. Not long after, three other men came running in, machetes in hand.
