Self Portrait

The last time I got up close and personal with my own mug for a self-portrait was back when I was a stubborn 17-year-old. Picture this: my moms mirror perched on the kitchen table, me hunching over like a detective trying to crack the case of the missing eyelash and uneven lips. Hours fly by as I try to capture every little detail. ¿Was it perfect? Well, for my "expert" drawing skills, it was a masterpiece! I practically wore a hole in the paper, and my pencil lines were more about inscribing texture than anything else.
This time around, I ditched the mirror. Photographed myself attempting to nail the right expression without my inner critic stepping in was a challenge. Repeating that on the canvas is gonna be like winning the lottery. Not quite there yet. I'll keep examining him, and I have plans to subtlety add even more complimenting colors in hopes create even more depth!
