¡Madre mia!

¿Our happy place? Oh, that's the boat in the delta. Taking mom out was just pure joy, like discovering chocolate has zero calories.  When my niece whipped out a black and white photo of mom on the boat that I snapped years ago, I was immediately inspired to create something for her.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery—or so [kinda] inferred Wayne Thiebaud. I took that and ran with it like a kid chasing a paletero's bell. At Legion of Honor his 'Woman in Tub' became my inspiration. I used the line work to represent the boat but also the speed. Mom freaking loved going fast no matter how bumpy a ride. I thing she enjoyed the chaos! Unlike Thiebaud, I had to crank up the joy dial and skip the stoic stuff.
